i went to jittery joes this morning and hung out with carlos, michael, and lucas. it was nice. then i went to lifeway to look through their devotional books for this summer. i'll probably end up doing the max lucado book my mom just finished, traveling light. but i was considering doing something on genesis, in light of the recent evolutionism/creationism debates that have been surfacing round here. after lifeway, it was on to walmart to purchase a new straightener. mine broke. why is it that walmart puts blowdryers, straighteners and curling irons in the "housewares" department, when they should be most conveniently placed in the "hair care" department. doesn't this bother anyone else? i think i've complained about this before.

i just revised a spanish paper, and i think i'll do some more work now.

interesting night, tonight. steph and i were all gung-ho about taking our lofts apart and putting our mattresses on the floor for the remainder of the semester. (my parents are coming on thursday, and they'll take the loft pieces away.) and my dad said we would probably only need a couple of adjustable screwdrivers. terry was really nice and brought us some. thanks, terry!

justin's over, and we're all into taking the beds apart. we're nearly done with mine, when we realize that we need another kind of screwdriver because some of the bolts (?) are too far into the wood. (you can tell i'm a real tool expert, no?) so, we end up with the frame of my bed, laying on its side in the middle of the floor. and there's nothing else we can do about it for now, until we get more tools. this is kinda tough at 11pm. so...my mattress lies inside the frame, along with our swing and rolled up carpet. and we draped my tapestry over the frame to make it a bit more aesthetically pleasing. so, it kind of looks like i'm sleeping in a huge wooden cage or playpen. yeah. hopefully we'll get that fixed in the next few days.

also, i ordered picture prints offline (19 pics), and it was only $3.95 because they gave me 15 prints free for just signing up. and there's no catch. (i know someone else who uses the website for prints.) i'm excited about not having to take a cd to some photo-developing place. saves me some time and trouble. nice.

well, it's about time for bed. i plan on being productive tomorrow. adios.

well, i was this close to going to the coffee shop...out of the door and everything. but then i decided against it. i dunno why.
i received an influx of emails from camp people today. amy, my staff director, sent us all a staff roster, so it was nice to see who's coming back this summer. as far as international staff goes, we're going to have girls from russia, australia, new zealand, england, south africa, kazakstan, and colombia (claudia's coming back!!!). i remember first day last year, when i drove up, not knowing my way around or any of the girls among the group lounging on the porch, waiting for everyone to arrive. this year, it will be completely different...i can't wait.

we won our softball game tonight. it was quite an exciting game. i struck out twice. i'm a real mvp.

comtemplating whether or not to go to the coffee shop. it would be nice to get out of here for a bit.
as for me i'm coming to my final failure. killed myself with changes trying to make things better. ended up becoming something other than what i had planned to be... (bright eyes)

every time the aim door opens, i quick alt + tab it over to the buddy list, just to see who it is. so dorky. and how.

weekend plans are yet to be determined. tomorrow night, actually, we may have a make-up softball game, but it's doubtfull that too many people will be around to play. this is erskine, after all. so, plans for friday night are pretty vague. saturday i need to work on my spanish project. luke's flying in that night, and i really want to go to the airport, but it's all the way in atlanta, and i have no idea what time his flight gets in, and i don't really know how to get there, as of yet. hm.

right now i should do work too. but all i really wanna do is be lazy. i think i can maybe afford another day of that, eh? maybe i'll read a little, to trick myself into believing that i've been productive.

April 23, 2003

well, sylvia's over. it's nice, though. i'll actually be able to play in some softball games, now. which is exciting. i'm excited.
mmm...cheese poofs are soooo good. i've discovered, however, that i like the imitation-brand stuff better than the actual cheetos brand. but i'll probably eat the whole bag anyway.

my cave's quite a mess. yesterday i was installing my scanner and digital camera software so that i could scan spidey's (koon's) camino pictures. there are boxes and discs and equipment scattered all in my cave. i should clean it up...eventually.

i was advised today. carlos is my new advisor. he thinks i can definitely do the spanish/english double-major. so i'm excited about that. i'm looking forward to the classes that i might potentially have next fall.

play round 3 tonight. last one, then we have to strike the stupid set. dang. at least i only have to go to an hour of spanish class tonight. and tomorrow's thursday. and after that it's friday. and then saturday. so it's all good.

April 22, 2003

the history exam yesterday was ok. my mind was pretty fried afterward. i took a four-hour nap yesterday, it's a shame it couldn't be longer. then i went to bed right after i got back from the play. so that was nice. i got up around 8:30 to workout, lifted weights for a while, but i was really faint, and decided against the eliptical machine. hope i'm not getting sick.

the play went pretty well last night. round 2 tonight. then only one more run to go. yay! i can't wait.

i'm still pretty faint. i ate something, guess it didn't help. and it's really hot in here.

April 21, 2003

i think i'm too full of bad coffee and cheese fries to blog sanely. see previous post.
fog as thick as pea soup tonight. which reminds me of in the rescuers down under when they're eating at a restaurant that's in this chandalier (sp? who cares.) of a human-sized restaurant and someone orders pea soup, and the cricket cook or waiter or whatever is like "pea souuuuup!" good story, eh?

i chased the moon tonight. i thought my car was fast, but, alas, the moon was faster. i'll get you yet, moon.

just got back from studying hard at denny's. their coffee is disgusting, but i drank it anyway.

warning: weak of stomach and peta geeks, reading the following paragraph may result in a) vomitting or b) gasping and saying "how horrible! that bethy is such an animal hater", and assembling an angry mob to throw red paint on me while chanting "animals are people, too, you monster!"

i hit an oppossum (sp??) tonight. i tried to swerve, but didn't see it soon enough because of the crazy fog, and heard a little crunch or thump or smash on the driver's side of my escort. and i, being the morbidly curious fool that i am, 3 point turn it around to see if i killed the animal. i pull up to it, and it's wriggling its lower body (do oppossums have lower bodies?) around while dragging it's head on the asphalt in an attempt to pull itself out of the pool of blood. ew. gross. i drive on, deciding not to help it. (i might've helped it if it was a cat or dog. but oppossums are ugly.) after that, animals keep randomly darting out in front of my car. it was insane. i think they were terrorists of the woodlands, sent on suicide missions to attempt to give me a heart attack, killing me, and completing their mission. but i didn't hit any of them. it did keep me awake, though.

then i drove on, listening to cursive full-blast.

and i was thinking about what to blog. then i thought how strange it was that i was planning out a blog, like some kind of blog whore. i even thought of blogging those last few sentences. pitiful. just pitiful.
